Annual Whale Conference held tonight

The annual Whale Conference of the Whale Museum and the Research Center of the University of Húsavík will be held tonight in the hall of the museum at 20. This is the fourth year in a row that the conference has been held.

The main goal of the conference is to provide a platform to discuss issues of whales and marine life and to share recent research.

Among the guests and speakers this evening are Kristján Þór Magnússon, mayor of Norðurþing, Dr. Tom Akamatsu who specializes in underwater recording, Dr. Magnus Wahlberg, professor at the Department of Biology at the University of Southern Denmark and Francoise Breton from the University of Autonomy, Barcelona, ​​but Francoise focuses on the interaction between society and whale watching, human life and nature in the Mediterranean Sea and now the last semester in the Arctic as well.

The talks are held in English and everyone is welcome, light refreshments will be offered at the end of the program.
