A whale conference is held annually during the summer with the aim of sharing information about the latest research on aquatic mammals in Skjálfandaflói and elsewhere. The conference program allows whale watching company personnel, guides and others who may be interested to learn about the latest findings. The coordinator of the conference is Heiðar Halldórsson, project manager of the Whale Museum.
