Húsavík – The whale capital of Iceland!

The whale museum is located at Hafnarstvet 1 i The old slaughter house of Kaupfélag Þingeyinga.

Húsavík is one of the most popular stops for tourists in the North. Well-known natural gems such as Jökulsárgljúfur, Ásbyrgi, Tjörnes, Vatnajökull National Park, Godafoss and Mývatnsveit are close by, but these stops are part of the popular Demantshring. About 1 hour drive to Akureyri.

Húsavík is known as one of the best whale watching spots in Europe. Skjálfandi is also one of the four best places in the world to see gray whales that have been making a habit of coming to the bay since 2004. They have most often been seen in Skjálfandi in June.
