Successful cooperation between the Whale Museum and the American Embassy

Valdimar Halldórsson and Huld Hafliðadóttir, employees of the Whale Museum, had a good meeting with the US ambassador to Iceland, Robert C. Barber, yesterday. In recent years, the Whale Museum has had a good cooperation with the American Embassy, but last winter the embassy took part in supporting the joint project between the Whale Museum in Húsavík and the Whaling Museum in New Bedford, USA. The project, entitled Connecting Coastal Communities, aims to connect different coastal communities on both sides of the Atlantic through museum collaborations and youth exchanges. At the meeting, the museum's staff formally thanked them for their support of the project, but such support is extremely important to the museum and its educational work. At the end of the meeting, Huld presented Robert with a thank you gift that the participants in the project had a hand in preparing.

The meeting also revealed the sincere desire of both parties for continued cooperation.
